There are many questions about what wheels may be used during a youth elite and junior elite draft legal event.
The rule states:
Wheels must have the following characteristics:
- A diameter between 70 cm maximum and 55 cm minimum, including the tire.
- Both wheels must be of equal diameter.
- Wheels shall have at least 16 metal spokes.
- Spokes can be round, flattened or oval, provided their width does not exceed 2.4 mm.
- The maximum rim dimension will be 25 mm. on each side.
If wheels do not meet all of the above characteristics, then they must meet requirement below:
- Wheels not complying with the five requirements above are allowed to be used only if they are included in the most current list of UCI Non-standard wheels in conformity with article 1.3.018 (List located on page: http://www.uci.ch/templates/UCI/UCI2/layout.asp?MenuId=MTYwNzQ&LangId=1). Wheels must be clearly identifiable by their original stickers or manufacturer’s markings. Wheels that cannot be readily identified may not be approved for use.
- No disc wheels allowed in competition.
